In 2020 we were searching for the ruins of an old RR station in the Galisteo Basin when we spotted three outcroppings. Looking promising for petroglyphs we hiked to the first and found this amazing panel. A hopi visitor to the studio last year identified the head as "Sky Man" and the square labyrinth as meaning "travel". It is always interesting to learn that some petroglyph elements have made their way into current day indigenous cultures. My imagination thnks that "SkyMan" was a celestial visitor and moving through a labyrinth is to "travel".

In 2020, Galisteo Two was found near the Galisteo One panel also in the Galisteo Basin. I regard this panel as unique as it appears to carry a singular message. It is thought my some that if a person or animal has horns they hold spiritual meaning. The serpent is a part of several of today's pueblo mythologies. The Kewa regard the serpent as representing rebirth and new life. I ask myself what is it about a snake that could represents this? In nature a snake sheds it's skin.
