My design principle follows the wisdom of writer/poet Antoine de Saint-Exupery well known for writing The Little Prince. "A designer knows he has achieved perfection not when there is nothing left to add, but when there is nothing left to take away". In reality, I find the exquisite purity and simplicity of petroglyphs require nothing need be added.
I grew up in Iowa in a musical family. Throughout my life, writing and playing music never strayed far from the surface. After careers in music, digital media technology and organic farming, I moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico. The expansive landscapes and the ancient indigenous cultures led me on an adventure and discovery of ancient indigenous rock art.
Fire On Steel embodies much of my creative history. With an eye towards rendering petroglyph images on steel, I'm energized with integrating light and audio story telling into my work, extending the immersive experience as much as possible. All through the lens of cutting steel.
The design and build studio is always open. Just sometimes I'm working and will get back to you.
